The Learning Space

The Learning Space is designed to enable people to access mental health friendly courses, workshops and learning opportunities in Sheffield.

Our learning opportunities usually fall under either of the following categories:

Learning opportunities for our community
Training, workshops and sessions for people living with or effected by mental health issues. We invite experts and speakers from all walks of life to deliver sessions that suits the needs and interests of the Sheffield Flourish community.

Learning from lived experience
Coproduction, codesign and user testing opportunities that consults and learns from people with lived experience of mental health. We often work with partners from across the health system to get user voices into support services and policies.

Learning from: Gleadless and Heeley Mental Health Centre

The Gleadless and Heeley Neighbourhood Mental Health Centre is a pilot project funded by NHS England that tests a model of mental health care that is more localised, aligns community and clinical support, and is delivered 24/7. Sheffield Flourish have been leading a series of events and activities to involve people who have a personal experience of mental illness and people local to the area, to help design the look, feel and offer of the centre.

Who – Anyone with lived experience of mental health

How – There are different ways that you can get involved depending on what works for you. We have in-person workshops, opportunities to join smaller working groups and more hands-off ways through questionnaires.

Who – People in SHSC’s inpatient wards

How –  Posters are up around the wards with QR codes or speak to a ward staff member about the days and times we are onsite.

Anything else: we can support you with access to a digital device if needed.

Learning from: Safe2Share

We are supporting our partners at Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust (SHSC) to test a new tool to provide digital feedback on the Sheffield mental health inpatient wards.

Who – People in SHSC’s inpatient wards

How –  Posters are up around the wards with QR codes or speak to a ward staff member about the days and times we are onsite.

Anything else: we can support you with access to a digital device if needed.

Learning for: Writing for Performance

As part of the Flourish Writing Group, this four-week course will support people to learn how to write scrips and how to perform your work in an engaging manner.

Who – Anyone interested in writing and performing

When – Wednesday 2pm, – 4pm, 19th March, 26th March, 2nd April, 9th April
