NEED URGENT HELP?

Our Annual Art Exhibition is Open!

The Things That Make Me Smile exhibition is now up and can be viewed until 30th October at The Workstation across two floors! The venue details and opening times are below and there’s a lift available to reach the mezzanine floor if needed (please check opening times, and if making a special trip we advise you telephone ahead to make sure the gallery space is open).

Our annual exhibition is a collaboration between Sheffield Health Partnership University (SHPU), Sheffield Flourish, and CAST that runs a Monday afternoon art group and Wednesday afternoon creative writing group. The exhibition is supported by the Sheffield Hospitals Charity, and showcases artwork from people with lived experience of mental health, whatever that may be, and those who work in support services. This year’s theme was chosen by SHPU service users and staff, and members of CAST.

Artists and contributors have responded to the theme ‘Things That Make Me Smile’ in their own way and the result is an amazing mix of artwork depicting nature, landscapes, pets, other animals, hobbies, abstract colours, and portraiture.

You’ll find poetry, mosaics, collage, sculptures, oil paintings, photography, crochet, knitting and more.

Opening times:

Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm

Sundays 10am to 1pm

Please note – dates of private events that will restrict access to view exhibition:

  • Thursday 8 October – Large all-day event. Reception is likely to be very busy throughout the day.
  • Wednesday 14 October – Large all-day event. Reception is likely to be very busy throughout the day.
  • Thursday 22 October – Large all-day event. Reception is likely to be very busy, and the organisers will also have some large freestanding signs in place, so parts of the wall space may be covered.
  • Friday 23 October – Large all-day event. The mezzanine will be unavailable.

Address:

The Workstation, 15 Paternoster Row, Sheffield City Centre, Sheffield S1 2BX. Telephone number to check open when you plan to visit: 0114 279 6511

Entry is free, and you are welcome to just pop in for a few minutes, or stay for as long as you like.

Celebratory Day: Wednesday, 7th October, 10am – 3pm
We’re also having a special celebration of the exhibition on Wednesday 7th October inviting all those who’ve taken part as contributors, friends of Sheffield Flourish, our funders, and community leaders and services that support and champion mental health. We look forward to celebrating people coming together through art and its positive impact on mental health and wellbeing.

This drop in and celebrate event will be a fun and enjoyable day with opportunities to get hands-on and create, connect with others, and share the things that make you smile.

Can’t make it on the 7th? No problem! With the exhibition open until 30th October there’s lots of time to plan a trip to see the wonderful artwork that captures different things that make our community smile.
